Cape Town Day Zero Hackathon

Day Zero Hackathon
February 24-25 10am - 6pm
Cape Town Science Centre

Day Zero is when the City of Cape Town, home to 4 million people including millions living in townships, will be forced to turn the taps off and allocate water through 200 distribution points guarded by police and military. This would be a world's first and nobody is certain what kinds of unintended consequences may emerge.

Stop Reset Go and the Cape Town Science centre, along with the South African Renewable Energy Business Incubator (SAREBI) are putting out an urgent call to university research departments around the globe to socially engage with local innovators to avert Day Zero through innovative open source designs. Because so many cities are waterstressed, design solutions emerged out of this hackathon will be shared with waterstressed cities around the globe.

For more information on how to participate, visit the Hackathon's website.
